Ich habe gerade keine Lust mehr auf Fantasy, ich würde gerne mal wieder ein gutes Buch lesen, allerdings mit einem sympathischen, männlichen Protagonisten. Einem, mit dem man empathisch sein kann und das Gefühl hat, dass man dabei etwas zurückbekommt, nämlich kluge Gedanken oder Überlegungen. Aber wie gesagt, sollte das ein Durchschnittstyp sein. Und natürlich sollte es eine gute Geschichte und gut geschrieben sein.

So was wie Sally Rooney von einem Mann und über einen Mann.

Diesen Absatz hier über ihre Geschichten fand ich sehr treffend:

As a longtime fan of Ms. Rooney’s work, I find that the key to her popularity isn’t so complicated. Her books are optimistic stories in which love is real, friendship is lasting, ideas matter and sex is a way for people to connect with each other rather than a set of abstract skills to master. Her books don’t always have a happy ending, but they contain the possibility of happiness. She doesn’t need to be the voice of her generation in order to be a compelling and interesting voice. In fact, she’s something better than all that: She’s a novelist.

Also, so in die Richtung. Normal, sympathisch, nachdenklich, nett und positiv. Und verdammt gut geschrieben. Sensibel, sinnlich, präzise.
